LGBT Resource Centre Brisbane

  • Looking for a venue to hold your group’s next meeting?
  • Want to access office equipment to help run your group?

Yes? Then the LGBT Resource Centre in Brisbane may be able to help. The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Resource Centre (“the Centre”) is the permanent home for:

  • Queensland Association for Healthy Communities (QAHC)
  • Gay & Lesbian Welfare Association (GLWA)
  • Brisbane Pride Festival
  • Parents & Friends of Lesbians & Gays (PFLAG)

We are located at 30 Helen Street Newstead, just a short walk from the Tenerife ferry terminal and the 19X buses. Please see the map over for details of location and transport options.

Local LGBT and HIV groups can use the Centre, free of charge to:

  • hold regular group/organisation meetings (e.g. management committee or support group)
  • host special events (e.g. book launch, community forum)
  • provide one-to-one counselling or discussion sessions
  • access office equipment including computers, internet, printers, photocopier etc.

We have one large meeting room (including kitchen and break-out area) seating up to 25 people, two smaller meeting rooms seating up to 8 people and an interview room for up to 3 people. An outdoor patio and paved area can also be booked for special events. A volunteer room has been set aside for volunteers from LGBT and HIV groups to access office equipment.

To use the Centre groups must sign a User Agreement with QAHC and receive an orientation to the building (including provision of keys and security code). For more information on the Centre and making a booking please visit www.qahc.org.au or ring 3017 1777.

The future of the Centre is reliant on donations from individuals and business. If you would like to make a donation to the Centre please see the ‘Make a Donation’ information sheet or ring 1800 177 434.

QAHC is exploring the feasibility of establishing LGBT resource centres in other locations throughout the state.
